Who issues an apostille for an FBI background check?+
The U.S. Department of State Office of Authentications issues the apostille for an eligible FBI Identity History Summary. A state secretary of state cannot apostille this federal document.
Do I need the FBI report before ordering the apostille?+
Yes. The apostille is added after the FBI Identity History Summary has been issued. If you do not have the report yet, follow the FBI's current Identity History Summary instructions first. Fingerprinting and the federal apostille are separate stages.
Can I upload my FBI PDF for review?+
Yes. Send the official PDF or a clear complete scan for the initial review. We check the issuer, visible pages and intended country, then confirm the submission format and mailing instructions before you pay or send anything.
Should I notarize the FBI background check?+
No. Do not notarize the FBI report to obtain a federal apostille. The U.S. Department of State instructs applicants not to notarize federal documents; doing so can make the document invalid for the intended federal route.
Do you translate the FBI report and apostille for Kazakhstan?+
Yes. Certified Russian or Kazakh translation is available separately. We normally translate the complete set—including the apostille certificate—after confirming the receiving organization's requirements.
